Staircases
Traditional and contemporary staircases tailored to your property. We design, manufacture and install straight, quarter-turn, dog-leg, open-riser and fully bespoke curved staircases. Materials range from reclaimed and solid oak to mixed-metal and glass balustrades for modern projects. Every newel, tread and stringer is specified to suit the building type — whether a 19th-century terrace in Kingston or a modern extension in Surbiton — and finished with durable oils, lacquers or specialist stains to retain character and resist daily wear.
Structural safety and regulatory compliance are integral. Pearwood produces technical drawings and works with structural engineers where required, checking headroom, loadings and fixings before manufacture. We provide clear site programmes to limit disruption, carry out tidy, dust-controlled installations and issue advice on maintenance and surface care. If you need a period match — spindles, newel caps or a winders repair — our workshop can replicate profiles to match originals with millimetre accuracy.
— Our Process
How It Works
Site Survey & Technical Drawings
We carry out a measured site survey, check headroom and existing structure, then produce accurate CAD drawings and structural notes so you know exactly what to expect.
Manufacture & Material Selection
Your staircase is hand-made in our workshop using selected timbers (oak, ash, walnut) or mixed materials; components are pre-finished where possible to reduce on-site disruption.
Professional Installation & Sign-Off
Our joiner installs, secures to structure and liaises with other trades as required, completes a snag check and issues any necessary certification or guidance for maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Timescales vary by complexity — a straight staircase replacement typically takes 1–3 days on site after manufacture, while bespoke curved designs can take 3–6 weeks for manufacture plus 3–7 days for installation. We provide a clear programme at survey stage and aim to minimise disruption with off-site pre-finishing where possible.
